There are many organisation that offer support to you and your child: 

Childline

You can contact Childline about anything. Whatever your worry, its better out than in. They are there to support you. There are lots of different ways to speak to a Childline counsellor or get support from other young people.

The Mix can assist with any challenges you are facing, talk via the online community, on social media, and through the free confidential helpline or our counselling service.

This charity offers a wide range of practical support and guidance to bereaved children, their families and professionals.

Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK helps children, parents and families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. We support children and young people up to the age of 25 who are facing bereavement, and anyone affected by the death of a child of any age.

Cruse Berevement Care

Cruse Bereavement Care offers face-to-face, group, telephone, email and website support to people after someone close to them has died.

Samaritans

Every year, Samaritans volunteers spend over one million hours answering calls for help via our unique 24-hour listening service, email, letter, face to face and through our Welsh language service.

Papytus

Papyrus HOPELINEUK is a confidential support and advice service for, children and young people under the age of 35 who are experiencing thoughts of suicide. Further support is available for anyone concerned that a young person could be thinking about suicide.

This free text messaging helpline is a private, silent and trusted way for anyone experiencing mental health challenges to find a safe space to seek help and support. You can send a text message any time of day or night wherever you are – every conversation is with a human being.

Citizens Advice

They provide free, confidential and impartial advice to residents of Salford, and campaign on big issues affecting people’s lives. They can assist with money, benefit, housing or employment problems.

Salford Loaves & Fishes

They can assist with accessing Salford foodbanks, offer support and advice with an indirect access to Citizens Advice and Salford Housing Team.

Salford Foodbank

They provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Anxiety UK

Anxiety UK offers support, advice and information on all anxiety, stress, and anxiety-based depression conditions. They provide a wide range of services to support those affected by these conditions; from those living with stress or mild anxiety, through to those with more severe, complex and longstanding issues. Friendly volunteers can answer your questions and help find the right resources to manage anxiety.

Six Degrees

Six Degrees offer evidenced based psychological interventions to support people experiencing common mental health problems. Using tried and tested talking therapies and self-help resources they have a proven track record of helping people deal with a range of problems including Anxiety, Depression and Stress. They are able help people who live in Salford aged sixteen years and over experiencing common mental health problems, stress, support with parental adjustment and support for those bereaved by suicide. Self-Referral is via the person’s GP.

Spirit of Salford Network

Our Spirit of Salford Helpline has been set up for you to get help, support and advice on lots of different issues that you might be facing at the moment. The helpline number is 0800 952 1000 and is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

Salford Assist

Salford Assist doesn’t offer cash payments, but would consider your immediate needs and try to help with essential items such as: 

  • a referral for baby milk, nappies or food for your baby and your family 
  • essential furniture items, for example a bed, or white goods 
  • help with emergency supply of gas or electric where there is no heating in the household 
  • advice and referrals to another service, agency or fund
  • council tax support
