ASPIRE Programme

Aspire

At Irlam and Cadishead Academy, we want to encourage our students to discover and develop talents, join a team, get involved with our ICA community, and ultimately develop a ‘can do’ aspirational attitude.

We offer you an exciting range of opportunities and activities that you can get involved with, from attending our enrichment clubs to exploring career pathways, to taking part in exciting educational trips and enrichment days, to becoming a student leader and making a real difference in our ICA community.

You can earn merits towards the Student Charter awards for taking part in the ASPIRE activities.  The more involved you get, the more merits you will earn.  Depending on how many merits you earn, you could be awarded the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Student Charter Award at the end of the term.

Student Council

The student council is chosen democratically by the students at ICA.  The council listens to the views and opinions of the students and will represent those views at regular meetings with Mr Leader.  As a student councillor, you can make a real difference to life at ICA.

Student elections are held annually in the summer term.  If you would like to be a student councillor, ask your Head of Year how to apply.

Read Committees

If you are passionate about a cause or an issue, or you simply want to improve things for your fellow students or the wider community, you can get involved with one of the many READ Committees.

Whether you are a staunch eco-warrior, want to support projects out in the community, or have a passion for sports, there are many opportunities to get involved.  What will your legacy be at ICA?

Ambassadors

Are you an amazing role model?  Do you want to help other students in school?

There are a range of ambassador roles in Wellbeing, in the various Subject areas, and in the library promoting reading.

Aspire Careers

There will be exciting trips, inspirational speakers, and informative careers fairs throughout your time at Irlam and Cadishead Academy, starting with an aspirational visit to a university in Year 7.

The more you get involved, the more prepared you will be as you navigate your way through choosing GCSEs and deciding what your post-16 destination will be!

Aspire Educational Visits

There are many opportunities to go on educational trips and visits and to travel abroad with the academy!  See highlights from past trips and visits in our photo gallery.

Aspire Days

We hold three Aspire Days each year, which are tailored to your year group using information gathered from students in the Aspire surveys.  These exciting days allow you to learn new things outside of the academic curriculum.

Aspire Enrichment

We offer a wide range of clubs at lunchtime and after school.  Whether you’re sporty, creative, a maths genius, or interested in science, we have something for you.  Download our timetable here:

Aspire Houses

Every student and member of staff is assigned a House!  Your house will be your school team during your time at Irlam and Cadishead Academy, and you will be able to take part in lots of fun, exciting competitions to earn your team house points.

You can also earn house points by getting involved in community work, living the school values, or demonstrating great attitude learning.

At the end of each year, the house competitions culminate in the biggest competition of all – Sports Day!  Which House will conquer?

Aspire Leadership

At Irlam and Cadishead Academy, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference as a student leader – whether that is in school, in the local community, or in the wider world.

There are so many opportunities for you to get involved and have your say.
